The General Idea...

meMy name is Jack Ivy, and I'm taking the greatest course I have ever taken this semester. That's right, the greatest. That's right, this semester. I get to experiment with and program mobile applications for the new open source OS, Android, used in some (soon more) cell phones. Android was developed by Google to be what I would call the "Linux of cell phones," which is funny in its own right because Android is built on a Linux kernel (for all you computer geeks out there). Anyway, thanks for checking it out, and I'll try to keep everything up to date! To give you a better overview...

This site is here for a few reasons:

Basically, this is something I am thoroughly enjoying, and I hope you will enjoy it too! And seriously, it's hard to think of good cell phone apps to write, especially if you don't have much iPhone experience (like me), so let me know if you have ideas...the winner gets cookies on Christmas break, baked by yours truly! (maybe)

A Word On...

The site URL, www.ivycs.net
I'm sorry it's nothing that interesting...I had already bought it this summer and I figured I might as well use it. Also, it might end up being of some use in the future! (It would stand for say, "Ivy Computer Services")
The name "The Independent Android"
I realized after I named the site that some might think that I am referencing my Greek status, or lack thereof. Actually, it was a reference to the fact that this class happens to be an "Independent Study," and it's all I could come up with. I almost changed it, but thought that the story might provide some good reading material for the fans.
